Rochester, NY -- The Fellowship of Christian Athletes Northeast Region proudly announces the addition of Nathan Bliss to its staff. Bliss will take on the role of Campus Director at Syracuse University where he will be responsible for ministering to the coaches and athletes on campus through relationship-building interactions, FCA huddles, and small group environments.
“My ministry passions revolve around discipleship, teaching, and small groups,” Bliss said. “I strongly believe that spiritual growth is best accomplished when Christians can be in close fellowship with other believers in a safe environment; a place where they can ask the tough questions, reveal their weaknesses, share their goals and dreams, and own their faith by looking to the Word for guidance.”
Bliss played football at Cornell University before an injury during his sophomore season ended his career. He transferred to Syracuse where he played on the men’s club volleyball team. As a senior and team captain, he led the squad to a 57-3 record and fifth-place national ranking.
After graduating from Dallas Theological Seminary, Bliss and his wife moved back to Syracuse in order to fulfill the calling they both felt God has placed on their lives.
“These coaches and athletes already know that they possess great talents and abilities,” Bliss said. “My hope is to help them discover why God gave them those talents so that they can utilize them for the kingdom and glorify Christ. As Syracuse coaches and athletes become sold out for Christ, they will begin to influence this entire community for Him through their testimony, their conduct, and the light of the Gospel.”
Since 1954, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) has been challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high, and youth levels to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus Christ. FCA is the largest Christian sports organization in America and impacts close to 1.5 million people every year through huddle groups, special events and camps.
